A classic tournament format that combines a certain amount of strategy with the skills of a two player team.
How To Play
Two player teams of equal skill are paired. Both golfers on each team tee off. The best of the two shots is selected. Both players will then play their second shot from that spot. The best of the second shots is selected. Both players will play their third shot from there, and so on until the ball is holed.
How To Score
You can use either a stroke or match play scoring format. This depends if you are competing against the whole field or just the other two player team in your foursome.
How To Win
The winning team is the team with the least amount of total strokes (strokeplay) or the most amount of holes won (matchplay) at the end of the round.
Let’s says Jason and Keith Stone are on a team together. Both players tee off and let’s assume Keith Stone’s drive is better. Jason picks up his ball and both players hit from where Keith Stone’s ball is, and so on until the ball is holed.
It is important to remember you get a club’s length from the chosen ball, but you cannot better your lie (i.e. you cannot place it in the fairway if the ball settled in the rough).
