One of the most popular games on the golf course that can be played with either 3 or 4 golfers. Handicapps are recommended if skill levels are not equal. Players compete for points that are awarded to players that shoot the low scores on each hole.
This game is featured on Fore Fun’s 2014 Card that are distributed at golf courses around the country…does your course have Fore Fun Cards? If not, shoot us an email to inquire about them. (Hint: They are free).
How To Play
Play out each hole as you normally would trying to shoot the lowest score possible trying to best your opponents.
How To Score
There are 9 total points awarded on each hole. The player with the low score on each hole gets 5 points. The player with the second-lowest score gets 3 points. The player with the third-lowest score gets 1 point. If you are playing with four people, the worst score gets 0 points.
If there is a tie, simply divide the points by the number of players tied. (Example: If two players are tied for 1st and 2nd, you take 5+3 = 8 and divide 8 by two players, so they each get 4 points.)
How To Win
The winner is the Player with the most cumulative points at the end of the round!
Points can have a predetermined value (e.g. $0.50), or you could all wager something to throw into the “pot” in which the Player with the most points just wins the “pot” (e.g. $10).
EXAMPLE: Ben, Joey and Jer decide to play Niner. (3 Players)
On hole 1, Ben gets a 4, Joey gets a 7 and Jer gets a 6. Ben gets 5 points, Joey gets 1 point and Jer gets 3 points.
On Hole 2, Ben gets a 7, Joey gets a 3 and Jer gets a 7. Joey would get 5 points for the low score and Jer and Ben tied so they split 3 + 1 = 4 points so they each get 2 points.
After two holes the point totals are: Ben = 7 points, Joey = 6 points, and Jer = 5 points.
