We are still going strong with our New Year’s golf resolution: Get Over Tiger Woods.  The purpose of this blog is to help golf fans move on from Tiger and learn about other talented golfers.  In the Farmers Insurance Open top golfers like Rickie Fowler (10/1 odds to win) and Jason Day (6/1 odds to win) missed the cut while KJ Choi, Kevin Streelman and Freddie Jacobson finished in the top 5.  Unfamiliar with those last 3 names?  Don’t worry, some betting websites didn’t even bother quoting odds… that’s how bad their odds were.  But all this data shows the parity and unpredictability in golf.  That’s why we spiced up this blog by tracking mock betting stats.

Another player to note from last week is Phil Mickelson’s.  Phil is still riding the roller coaster with the marvelous shot seen below (first YouTube clip) on his way to an opening round 69.  That 69 was followed by a 76 on Friday, a day that was filled with recovery shots.  Most notably, you can see Phil’s successful attempt to escape a lie underneath a metal fence (see Youtube video further below).   However, now, Phil’s entertaining ups and down teeter on the edge of making the cut, which he was unable to do at the Farmers Insurance Open.  He is no longer teetering on the edge of winning a tournament.  So should we add Phil to our New Year’s resolution?

Alright, now for our pick of the week, Ryan Moore.  Ryan, in my opinion, is sponsored by the most comfortable brand of shoes in golf.  Not Nike, Adidas, Footjoy or Ashworth.  TRUE Linkswear.  If you’ve never heard or worn TRUE Linkswear, you’ll have to consider as they’re stylish too.  We like Moore this week as he fits our pick criteria (worse than 5/1 odds to finish in the top 10) and has a decent track record at the Phoenix Open.
